MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses tiny, controlled needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing process. This boosts collagen and elastin production, improving skin texture, tone, and firmness. It's highly effective for reducing fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores, and overall skin rejuvenation, delivering smoother, fresher, and more radiant skin with minimal downtime.

  • What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment that uses fine, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This stimulates the skin's natural repair processes and encourages collagen and elastin production, helping to improve skin texture, tone and overall skin quality.

  • What are the benefits of microneedling?

Microneedling can help improve a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture and certain types of pigmentation. It is particularly effective for improving overall skin quality and supporting long-term collagen production.

  • Does microneedling hurt?

Most clients find microneedling very tolerable, describing the sensation as mild scratching or prickling. Treatment intensity is adjusted according to the area being treated, individual skin concerns and client comfort.

  • How many microneedling sessions will I need?

Although improvements may be noticeable following a single treatment, we generally recommend a course of three sessions for optimal results. More established concerns, such as deeper acne scarring, may require additional treatments.

At DEJAMO, individual sessions cost £150, or a course of three is available for £400.

  • How often should I have microneedling?

Microneedling treatments are typically spaced 4–6 weeks apart, allowing sufficient time for the skin to recover and begin its natural collagen-remodelling process. Your treatment schedule will be tailored to your skin concerns and individual response.

  • Is there any downtime after microneedling?

Microneedling involves minimal downtime for most clients. Redness, warmth, tightness and mild swelling are common immediately after treatment and typically settle within 24–72 hours. Some clients may experience temporary dryness or flaking as the skin recovers.

  • How long does it take to see results from microneedling?

Some clients notice improvements in skin texture and radiance within the first few weeks. However, collagen production and remodelling take time, with more significant improvements typically developing over several weeks to months. Results are progressive and can improve with a course of treatments.

  • Can microneedling help with acne scars?

Yes. Microneedling can be particularly effective for certain types of atrophic acne scarring by stimulating collagen production and encouraging skin remodelling. Multiple sessions are usually required, and results depend on the type and severity of scarring. Active inflammatory acne should generally be treated before microneedling.

  • What should I avoid after microneedling?

Following treatment, we recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours, strenuous exercise, swimming, saunas and excessive heat for 24–48 hours. Active skincare ingredients, including retinoids and exfoliating acids, should be temporarily avoided until the skin has recovered. Daily broad-spectrum SPF 50 protection is essential.

  • Is microneedling suitable for everyone?

Microneedling is suitable for many skin types and concerns, but it is not appropriate for everyone. Treatment may need to be postponed or avoided in certain circumstances, including active skin infections, inflammatory skin conditions, impaired wound healing or a history of abnormal scarring. At DEJAMO, every treatment begins with an assessment to establish suitability and ensure a safe, personalised approach.

MICRONEEDLING

INDICATIONS

Microneedling is suitable for improving fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture and overall skin quality. By stimulating the skin's natural collagen and elastin production, treatment can improve skin firmness, texture and appearance.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Microneedling may not be suitable for individuals with active skin infections, inflammatory acne, open wounds, impaired wound healing or a history of keloid scarring. Certain medical conditions, medications and pregnancy may also affect suitability. All clients undergo an individual assessment before treatment.

PRE-TREATMENT CARE

Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning and irritating skincare ingredients, including retinoids and exfoliating acids, for approximately 5–7 days before treatment. Arrive with clean skin where possible and inform your practitioner of any recent aesthetic treatments, medications or changes in your medical history.

POST-TREATMENT CARE

Temporary redness, sensitivity and mild swelling are common following microneedling and typically resolve within 24–72 hours. Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours, excessive heat, strenuous exercise and swimming for 24–48 hours. Use gentle skincare, avoid active ingredients until the skin has recovered and protect your skin with broad-spectrum SPF 50.
